This one-of-a-kind upholstered box was designed and handcrafted in my seaside studio in Edinburgh. It is made using sustainable materials and would make the perfect statement item of furniture for any room. Ideal for storing keepsakes, precious items and can also be used as a unique footstool.
Every day the view from my studio changes - the tide, the sea and the sky. This design embraces the inky colours of the ocean, the form of one wave meeting another, and the sunlight dancing on the water's surface.
About this box
This box has been completely reupholstered, having been stripped back to the frame. All original materials have been replaced. Instead of the old foam, biodegradable wool and cotton felt has been chosen to give padding to the lid and outside. The same combination on the inside gives a lovely cushioned feel alongside gorgeous textured wool for added luxury. The inside of the lid has one large pocket and two smaller ones to store items such as cards or pictures. The lid is held in place with brand new high quality British brass hinges. The box is then finished with a hand covered button using Kvadrat wool. The toggle cord is made with the same fabric to secure the lid and keep those precious items safe.
